The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993 film)

Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, stumbles through a portal to Christmas Town and becomes obsessed with celebrating the holiday. This film received widespread critical acclaim, with critics and audiences praising the originality and creativity of the visual and storytelling elements, the soundtrack and the characters. It introduced several innovatory techniques in stop-motion animation (particularly most of the effects). The review site Rotten Tomatoes described it as "a stunningly original and visually delightful work of stop-motion animation". This screening will (as always) be introduced by the Garrick's very own stop-motion Oscar-nominee, Barry Purves, with informed trivia, anecdotes and some background of the production.
