Previous Next Val Bacon Val Bacon was a regular performer with a number of local dramatic societies, including Urmston Musical Theatre, Sale Nomads, Edge Fold Players, All Saints and Salford Operatic. In her later years she concentrated all her attention to the Garrick, and was an acting member for over a decade from the late 1990s. Val also worked as an ASM, and helped out Front of House. Val's TV credits include Coronation Street , Emmerdale and Linda Green (with Lisa Tarbuck). She also appeared in television advertisements (for example Hotter Shoes and Sheerings Holidays. Previous Next Maureen Casket The Garrick has had very few members as supportive as Maureen and her husband Maurice. She was an absolute firebrand with so much energy that she could make you tired just watching her. She was a talented actor and director, known in theatres both professionally and amateur throughout the region as an enthusiastic supporter of performing arts. In her latter years she contributed to the Garrick mainly as a member of the Play Selection and Casting Committee and as a director of plays but, when she took to the Garrick stage every now and then, everyone was reminded of her exceptional talent as an actor. The show takes on a large tour across the UK from November 2024–March 2025. TheMarket Theatre Company Adult Panto started life in the company’s own small-scale venue in Hitchin in Hertfordshire with a four-week run back in 1996 to now running for over 3 months with the current show. It’s popularity (says artistic director Kirk Foster) is down to its wide appeal. Kirk said “The Adult Panto differs from others you might find in that it is much more of a farcical comedy play than a typical pantomime twisted with adult references. It relies on the idea that a team of just three actors must play all the characters and tell the story while everything goes wrong around them with lots of innuendo thrown infor good measure!” he continues, “the Adult Panto really does appeal to everyone from ages 18–80!”. Production Manager Glyn Doggett said “feedback for our last show was incredible across social media so we can’t wait to return to those venues we visited last year, plus a few new ones this year!” he continues, “One of the things I love about our adult panto’s is that we are constantly surprising audiences with where we take the original story and characters, that’s part of what makes us different.
