Behind the Curtain — Theatre Tours
Taking place at Altrincham Garrick Summer Open Day!
Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a live theatre production? This is your chance to find out. Our exclusive Open Day theatre tours take you deep into the Altrincham Garrick Playhouse, revealing the magic, craft and creativity that brings every show to life.
Your one-hour guided tour includes visits to:
• The Auditorium — experience the heart of the theatre from the audience's perspective and learn about our extensive history and how it all began.
• The Stage — step onto the stage and see the theatre from the performer's view and hear how everything works.
• Workshop — discover where sets and props are built and brought to life.
• Wardrobe — explore the costume department and its incredible collection.
• Scene Dock — see where scenery is stored and prepared for each production.
• Prop Dock — browse our wings and the fascinating collection of props from past shows.
Each tour lasts approximately 1 hour and is suitable for theatre lovers of all ages.
Tickets & pricing:
• Full price: £5.00 per person
• Family ticket: £16.00 (four people)
Please Note
- All under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.
- Due to the historic nature of the Theatre, please note that this tour includes backstage areas that are accessible by stairs only, as step-free access is not available throughout the building.
Tickets can be booked in advance online or from our Box Office. We strongly recommend booking online to secure your place, as numbers are strictly limited. A small number of tickets may be available on the day, but cannot be guaranteed.
Don't miss your chance to go behind the scenes at one of the North West's best-loved community theatres.
In addition to our backstage tours, we have a packed programme planned between 11am - 4pm, including two free performances on our Main Stage showcasing our Choir, Drama Academy, Lighting & Sound Department, and extracts from productions in our current season, together with a colourful costume parade. These performances will be taking place 12.45pm - 1.25pm and 3.20pm-4pm.
There will also be a wide range of activities throughout the day including craft stalls, face painting, food and drink stalls, wacky children's entertainment from Pete Scotson, a bouncy castle, costume sales from our Wardrobe Department and the opportunity to explore our extensive theatre archives and meet our team.
All funds raised will support our CHILI Campaign, helping us invest in the future of the theatre.
